Description of The Settlers II: Gold Edition
The Settlers 2 is a good follow-up of the first game, with more possibilities, really incredible graphics and animations and a very low technical requirement when it was released (worked on a 486DX33). Some of the weaknesses: no real multiplayer (you had to play on a split screen with two mouses and share the keyboard) and only two speed for in-game time, making you wait just idling for 5 minutes sometime. Anyway, a top game remade in 3D in 2006: The Settlers II 10th Anniversary. The Gold edition contains the original game and the Mission CD, which contains a new campaign, 12 new maps and an editor. You should also check out Widelands, a free and open-source remake of The Settlers II.
